Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. Nicole Ari Parker is an American actor in stage and films. Her most famous role is was that of Teri, the passionate attorney Teri Jospehson on the Showtime TV series Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. As a child living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. When she participated in a Maryland high school contest in her early years of schooling, she won the prize for the most outstanding actress. In the years following her work in theater, as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she earned a certificate in acting from New York University. Contractor Born from Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria through the age of seven. She was already exposed to a lot of travel and different cultures at a very early age. She attended a boarding-school in London between the ages of 7 and 9. Then, the family moved from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor was a successful academic at the University of Toronto Toronto in addition to her training as ballerina. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts focused on theatre and dance. Contractor took the decision to study acting more seriously at the age of 16, after ten years dancing. When she graduated from high school, Contractor was awarded a scholarship by the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology. She also earned a Master's degree in Theatre. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After an entire year of auditions, she was offered the lead part. In 2002, Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance in 92 productions of Pericles. Contractor accepted an invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females are admitted for a 20-week intensive course in classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed place for the next season, and was offered the role as Hermia.
